So, why am I writing this book? Well, I want to help other musicians find “opportunities” with their music and maybe at the same time help others avoid making some of the same mistakes I’ve made—giving thousands of dollars to fake producers, signing away rights of songs to corporations—you know, that sort of thing. Now, notice I used the word “opportunities,” and not the word “money.” And that is because all of your successes as a musician will come from opportunities. And, some of these opportunities will fit you based only on your life experiences, as you will see from my story. Additionally, some of these opportunities will provide you with money—sometimes! But how will you create and capture those opportunities? And, what will you do with them? Well, I’m here to share with you my story—things I did, the ways in which I succeeded, and a few things I learned that helped make all of the difference for my music career. The tips in this eBook are tried and true, and my story is literally one of turning lemons into lemonade! Also, my story is a bit atypical, so keep that in mind as you read. Now honestly, I sometimes think I would do better writing a book that explains in exact detail how to have zero success in the music industry. It’s a very difficult business, to put it mildly, and I was burned many times in the early days of my career! Ouch! But, you can be successful in the music industry without being the next Kings of Leon, Tim McGraw, or Taylor Swift. On that note, if you can become the next Kings of Leon, Tim McGraw or Taylor Swift, well that’s cool too! Send me a record and tickets to your next show! I’ll come out and show my support! Some of the techniques I’ve used over the years have made it possible for me to tour the country with my music, license songs to huge corporations, open for some of the biggest bands on the radio, give interviews on TV shows, publish articles in magazines, give the keynote speech for a large organization, perform as the featured artist at huge events, play my music on the radio, become the spokesperson for a video game, and get lots of exposure to my website and to my music. And, it has been a blast!Have I gotten rich? No. Did I make some money along the way? Yes! Did I have opportunities of a lifetime—opportunities that led to experiences I’ll never forget? Absolutely! And, that is why I want to share my techniques with you!
