Once upon a time, in a land far away, a girl was born who was just a little odd around the edges. One thing led to another, and now you're reading her stories.
Born in Japan at the advent of the 80s, I developed a keen love of terrible anime and neon colors. A student of Voltron and Robotech. A tomboy to the core. Slave to the stationing whims of the USAF, my family soon found its way to small town Germany, where the brochen was crusty, and the forests were as black as night. I often found myself staring at the trees, wondering what was lurking within, when I wasn't too busy pillaging my landlord's strawberry patch or trying to keep my big wheel from flipping end over end down the steep hills around our home. In a daring move, my father decided to accept one last post before retiring, choosing not Okinawa. Not Honalulu. But settling my mother, my sister, and I down in the flat, featureless expanse of central Illinois, where I have been ever since. Toiling away in an endless string of retail sweat-chains. Now, here amongst the corn and soybeans, I write about places from distant memories and worlds I've never seen. While my four-legged children play happily in the yard, and my husband fiddles with his amateur robotic creations. It's a well-earned piece of quiet in a world grown far too loud for its own good.
