∞Deception∞

She is Dana; an investigative reporter, a devoted wife, and a loving mother. She is also above her head in a story that would break up the cartel that was smuggling guns and drugs into country. It was not just any piece of journalism; it was the piece that was going to turn her world upside down.
On the day of her daughter’s first birthday, she was kidnapped from her car and later informed that her daughter had been killed. Her belief that Robin was still alive and her love she felt for her family was never completely erased as she was brainwashed and hypnotized becoming Dena Martin. Deep down, she always knew that her life was not in Thorny Bridge, but she could not remember any other place. At the beginning of Deception, she is writing the story about Dana. It called out to her without her knowing the reason why.
There was just one weekend out of every year that she felt alive. The weekend when her husband, Andrew, would arrive in Thorny Bridge. They were drawn to each other even though her memories of him had diminished, and he did not recognize her because of the structural surgery and dyed hair. There was something in those eyes that drew her to him. Every year on the anniversary of her alleged death, Andrew was drawn to the little bar where Dena Martin wrote.
People in Thorny Bridge were never who they claimed to be. Dena’s cousin was actually her captor. The bartender and landlady were detectives. They all had one objective: To keep an eye on Dana. The town held her captive until the agent named Bennie, the bartender, informed Andrew of his suspicions. Dena was Dana, and they needed to get her out of Thorny Bridge. She had been held captive for five years. It was time to get her out.
Her life was in peril; danger encircled her home and family. As Dena, she writes a story that seemed a little too real. It was not until later that she throws down the pen in the safety of her own home, realizing that she is really Dana and that she was in danger. The joy of knowing that Robin was alive was short lived as danger lurked around her hometown of Pleasant Ridge; threatening the safety of her family.
Her story was not complete as Buddy and Quinn are still dealing arms while searching for Dana. Her life was in more danger now that she was out of their sight. But was she really out of their sight? Carrie was a detective that stayed in Dana’s house, but, again, Carrie is not really who she says she is either. Her real name is Dolores, and she is Buddy’s girlfriend. Deception rules Dana’s everyday life.
She is captured a couple of more times by Buddy and Carrie. Once again in front of her daughter in a very public place. She escapes and is captured again. She fights. She wants to live.
A year after everybody is captured and the last investigative report that Dana wrote was released, her life is finally on tract. She finishes the story that she started as Dena in that little out of the way town where she had been held captive. Dena Martin no longer existed; she was Dana McCartney; devoted wife and loving mother of two. ☺
